Abstract
The Danish AgriFish Agency Food may grant subsidy to farmers for the cultivation of land with limited use of nitrogen and without the use of plant protection products, other than those allowed for organic farming. The areas where the grant applies shall be of permanent. The purpose of this order is to subsidize short term cultivation of Christmas trees and greenery to be cut down on the 10th calendar year after the planting of trees on the committed area or within the 14th calendar year after planting in the commitment area. The commitment period begins 1 September of the year of the subsidy application and ends on 31 August five years later. Criteria for granting financial subsidy for planting on land allowed to organic farming include: 1) the commitment gardens throughout the commitment period as owner or lessee operating the area; 2) the area is not within the commitment period of afforestation; 3) the area is not within the commitment period covered by a subsidy scheme for forestry; 4) the area is not within the period of commitment imposed on forest reservation, except for non-vegetated forest reservation areas; 5) the area is not effective within the commitment period covered by the agreement or easement under the EU-Directive on the criteria for awarding funds to restore wetlands or EU-Directive on wetland restoration and; 6) the commitment gardens each year of the commitment period declare fulfillment of all undertakings in adherence to article 28, and that the statement is submitted no later than 1 August. The yearly subsidy is equivalent to 750 DKK/ha.

This Order does not apply to applications for exemption related to commitments made in adherence to the rural development programs from before 2007 or to Order No. 590 of 8 June 2007 on environment-related subsidies. This Order has been repealed by Order No. 1788 of 16 December 2015.
