Order No. 791 on the minimum size for fish and crustaceans.

Type of law

This Order, based on sections 10, 30, 109 and 130 of the Fisheries Act, prohibits the retaining on board, transshipment landing, transportation of sale of fish and crustaceans (and parts thereof) that do not meet the minimum size as specified in this Order. Such fish shall be released immediately, as far as possible alive, in accordance with provision of Article 15 of Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on landing of commercial fish. Landing of fish with Danish registered fishing vessel and when landing in Danish port in general, shall be in accordance with EU trade standards.
Annex 1 sets out for specified species of fish and Annex 2 for crustaceans the minimum sizes, calculated from the nose to the tail fin (total length). The minimum length varies according to the geographical areas in which the fish or crustacean is caught.
