Protection of Geographical Indications Act (No. 13 of 1999).

This Act makes provision for the recognition, registration, use and protection of geographical indications, i.e. identifications for goods originating in a specific territory where there exists a particular quality or particular characteristic of such goods essentially attributable to their origin.
Protection of geographical indication shall be available regardless of registration. The Act provides rules for the use of geographical indications and award of geographical indications in case of homonymous indications for wines.
