Abstract
The text of the Act consists of 9 sections which carry the following titles: Short Title (1); Interpretation (2); Establishment of the Exclusive Economic Zone (5); Establishment of the Fishery Zone (6); Jurisdiction in the Exclusive Economic Zone (8); Jurisdiction in Fishery Zone (9); Acknowledgement of International Activities in the Exclusive Economic Zone (10); Intention to Negotiate Maritime Boundaries (11); Future Legislation (12). The fishery zone extends to 200 nautical miles from the nearest point of the baseline from which the breadth of the territorial sea is measured (sect. 6). In the fishery zone the Commonwealth of Dominica shall exercise the sovereign right and exclusive authority to explore and exploit, conserve and manage the fishery resources of the superjacent waters, the seabed and subsoil therein, in accordance with international law (sect. 9).
