Abstract
This Act establishes the principles of the national strategy of sustainable development. The national strategy of sustainable development is based on the principles established in the decisions of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (Rio de Janeiro, 1992). Part II of this Act establishes the grounds for the sustainable use of the natural environment and natural resources. The grounds of sustainable development in other fields are established by Acts, other legislation or national programmes. The purpose of the sustainable use of the natural environment and natural resources is to guarantee that the environment meets human needs as well as provides the resources required for economic development without causing significant damage to the environment or depleting biological diversity.
