Abstract
The guidelines set out in the Annex attached to this Directive shall be followed when carrying out microscopic examination intended for officially controlling the identification and estimation of the amount of constituents of animal origin in feedingstuffs. The fixing of the guidelines, however, does not exclude the use, instead or in addition, of methods of analysis, other than microscopic examination, which have been scientifically proved to be valid for the identification and estimation of the amount of constituents of animal origin. The guidelines are structured into the following 9 points: (1) Objective and field of application; (2) Sensitivity; (3) Principle; (4) Reagents; (5) Equipment and accesories; (6) Procedure; (7) Calculation and evaluation; (8) Expression of the result of the examination; (9) Remarks.
