Abstract
The present Recommendation lays down technical guidance with a view to facilitating a coordinated approach for the inspections, and particularly sample checks, to be carried out pursuant to Regulation (EC) No. 1830/2003, which sets out the framework for the traceability of products consisting of or containing genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and food and feed produced from GMOs. The sampling and detection should be carried out using sound scientific and statistical protocols in order to achieve an appropriate level of confidence for detection of GMOs or material produced from GMOs. The Recommendation is composed of the following Parts: (I) General principles; (II) Definitions; (III) Principles for sampling protocols; (IV) Sampling protocols; (V) Analytical test protocols/Testing methods; (VI) Final provisions.
