Abstract
This Regulation establishes the animal health conditions for importing certain birds into the European Community from the countries referred to in Annex I. The aim is to prevent the outbreak and spread of avian influenza or Newcastle disease. These provisions regulate with detail: conditions to be complied with by breeding establishments from which birds may be imported; conditions for quarantine facilities and centres; transport and transit of birds in the European Community. Moreover, the Regulation specifies the actions to be taken in case of disease suspicion.
