Abstract
With a view to preventing the introduction into the Community of pathogens or animal diseases, the present Regulation sets forth particular rules applicable to the importation of products of animal origin for personal consumption. All meat, meat products, milk and milk products introduced into the Community by travellers, or sent to private persons, shall be subjected to the requirements prescribed by Directive 2002/99/EC. They shall come from countries listed according to article 8 and they shall be presented to a border inspection post duly accompanied by the documents specified under article 9. Furthermore, they shall be subject to veterinary checks as per Regulation (EC) No. 136/2004. Article 2 lays down particular exemptions; article 4 regards controls and sanctions.
