Apricots are among the products listed in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No. 2200/96 for which standards must be adopted. In compliance with the conditions laid down in Regulation (EC) No. 2200/96, the standards hereby established shall be applied at all stages of marketing of apricots. The marketing standards are set out in the Annex, which is divided into six Parts, as follows: (I) Definition of produce; (II) Provisions concerning quality; (III) Provisions concerning sizing; (IV) Provisions concerning tolerances; (V) Provisions concerning presentation; (VI) Provisions concerning marking. As an exemption from the Annex to the present Regulation, the minimum size of apricots produced in the Süßer See region may be 5 mm smaller than the minimum size given by the marketing standard.
