Abstract
The present Regulation contains the definitions of certain devices which may be attached to trawls, Danish seines or similar nets when fishing and which are liable to obstruct the mesh in any part of the trawl or net or to diminish the dimensions of the mesh. The devices are precisely defined under articles 4 to 15, which cover in particular the following: bottom-side chafer; top-side chaffer; strengthening bags; chafing or protection pieces; codlines; lifting straps; round straps; flappers; sieve nettings; strengthening ropes; torquettes; median lacing of a trouser codend. The Regulation establishes the conditions under which the above-mentioned devices may be deployed too.
