Abstract
This Regulation makes amendments in Regulation (EC) No 865/2006 in line with the latest developments adopted at the 75th and 77th meetings of the CITES Standing Committee. It inserts the definition of breeding stock in point (3) of Article 1 and amends paragraph 1 of Article 5c as regards the codes for the purpose of transaction. Articles 20 and 26 are amended regarding the applications for permits and certificates for import, export and re-export for commercial purposes of specimens of animal species listed in Appendix I to the Convention that are born and bred in captivity submitted after 31 December 2026. It amends Article 69 on reports on imports, exports and re-exports and on implementation. The heading of Chapter XIII is amended as 'specimens born and bred in captivity, artificially propagated specimens and the registration of operations that breed specimens of animal species listed in Appendix I to the Convention in captivity for commercial purposes'. It also inserts Article 54a determining the requirements for the registration of operations that breed specimens of animal species listed in Appendix I to the Convention in captivity for commercial purposes.
Annex VII setting out the codes to be included in the description of specimens and units of measure to be used in permits and certificates, Annex VIII on standard references for nomenclature to be used to indicate scientific names of species in permits and certificates, and Annex IX on the codes for the indication in permits and certificates of the purpose of a transaction are replaced by the text laid down in Annex 1 to this Regulation. This Regulation adds Annex XIV as regards the information to be submitted by an operation to apply for registration by the Secretariat of the Convention pursuant to Article 54a.
