Abstract
This Regulation amends Regulation (EC) No. 41/2006 by inserting Chapter Xa laying down special management measures for bluefin tuna in the Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean, as recommended by the International Commission for the Conservation of the Atlantic Tunas. These measures concern the periods during which fishing for bluefin tuna shall be allowed, the minimum size under which bluefin tuna may not be caught and the maximum bycatch permitted. Further provisions concern the register of vessels as well as the register of traps authorized to fish actively for bluefin tuna. Provisions are also laid down with respect to transhipment, catch reports and controls in ports. Annex XVIa on the recovery plan for bluefin tuna is added.
