Abstract
This Directive lays down some amendments to Directive 2009/16/EC on port State control. Firstly it supplements the list of international conventions to which reference is made. The International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships (AFS 2001) and the International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution Damage (Bunkers Convention, 2001) are included. It is further stipulated that, when inspecting a ship flying the flag of a State which is not a party to a Convention, Member States shall ensure that the treatment of that ship is not more favourable than that of a ship flying the flag of a State party to that Convention. Such ship shall be subject to a more detailed inspection.
