Abstract
This Agreement sets out the principles, procedures and rules governing economic, financial, technical and scientific cooperation in the fisheries sector with a view to promoting responsible fishing in Madagascar's fishing zones. The aim is to ensure the conservation and sustainable exploitation of fisheries resources and develop Madagascar's fisheries sector. In particular, the Agreement specifies the conditions under which European Community fishing vessels shall have access to Madagascar's fishing zones. Such conditions include the possession of a valid licence issued by Madagascar. The Protocol attached to this Agreement sets out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution applicable from 1 January 2007 to 31 december 2012.
