Abstract
The amendments of the principal Act are made as a consequence of the Act related to liability to oil pollution caused by ships being repealed, and the ratification of the Amending Protocol of 1992 of the International Convention on the Establishment of an International Fund for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage, 1971. They concern liability of the shipowner for marine pollution (sect. 1 of Chapter 7); non applicability of limitations of liability (sect. 3 of Chapter 9); liability in general for oil pollution damages and in particular the establishment of a limitation fund and insurance against liability (Chapter 10); limitations on claims (sect. 1 of Chapter 19), offences (sect. 9(a) of Chapter 20); competent court (sect. 3(a) of Chapter 20); and enforcement and executive title (Chapter 21).
