Abstract
This Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry concerns controls to be carried out on animals and animal products traded within the European Community and imported into the European Community from third countries so as to prevent the spreading of diseases. The Decree does not apply to certain foods of animal origin including live bivalve molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates, sea shells and shellfish intended for human consumption, nor to the skins of fur-bearing animals and, in certain cases, ornamental fish. Measures introduced by this Decree include: registration of exporters and importers; with the Food Safety Agency; certification and reporting in accordance with the TRACES system; import licences; controls on imports and exports; and prior notifications of importation.
