Abstract
The present Decree, of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, implements Commission Directive 2006/141/EC on infant formulae and follow-on formulae and amending Directive 1999/21/EC. It contains provisions on the composition, packaging labels, marketing, placement on the market, sale, and other distribution of infant formula and follow-on formula intended for healthy infants. Infant formula and follow-on formula must not contain any substance in an amount that could jeopardize the health of infants or young children. Infant formula must meet the composition requirements specified in Annex I, taking into account the specifications in Annex V. Follow-on formula must meet the composition requirements specified in Annex II, taking into account the specifications in Annex V. Infant formula and follow-on formula must be ready for consumption as is or formulated in such a way that only the addition of water is needed to make them ready for consumption. The pesticides listed in Annex VIII shall not be used in agricultural products intended for infant formula and follow-on formula. Infant formula packages shall not feature images of infants, nor any other images or text that could idealize the use of the product.
