Abstract
The present Act repeals Act No. 377 of 1986. It regulates and promotes the use of high quality fertilizers, including compost and soil improvers. It contains provisions concerning the public control of production, marketing, importation, testing, packing, labelling and other relevant matters.
The 25 sections are divided into 6 Chapters: General provisions (I); Manufacture, marketing and import of fertilizers (II); Manufacture, marketing and import of other fertilizing substances (III); Supervision (IV); Enforcement and penalties (V); Miscellaneous (VI).
Provisions of Chapters II and II provide for quality control and approval of manufactured or imported fertilizers and other fertilizing substances by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

This version is a consolidation as amended last by Act No. 888 of 26 October 2001.The Fertilizer Act No. 377 of 1986 is repealed.
