Abstract
The present Government Decree contains provisions regarding compensation for organic production as regards management commitments referred to in Article 70 of Regulation (EU) 2021/2115 of the European Parliament and of the Council. Compensation for organic production is part of Finland's strategic plan for the Common Agricultural Policy for 2023–2027 approved by the European Commission. Compensation for organic production can be granted and paid for the duration of the strategic plan within the limits of the funds allocated in the state budget. The Decree applies to commitments for organic crop production and organic livestock production. A commitment of organic production enters into force on May 1st of the year in which the agreement is concluded. The commitment year and commitment period begin on May 1st and end on April 30th. The Decree establishes minimum level requirements for organic production commitments. A prerequisite for entering into an organic production commitment is that the farmer has completed a basic course in organic production.
