Abstract
The present Government Decree applies to the control of rabies in animals. It lays down further provisions on the implementation of different Sections of the Act on Animal Diseases. Its provisions cover measures to be taken before and after rabies has been established, including the duties of the supervisory authorities. When there is a suspicion of infection, the control authority shall examine the animal and take the necessary samples from it without delay. An investigation into the origin and spread of the animal disease shall also be conducted. If the disease is confirmed, the control authority shall take the necessary measures to prevent the disease from spreading without delay, including isolating the animal, monitoring its health, and eventually killing it. The Decree further contains detailed provisions on decisions regarding asymptomatic animals, cleaning and disinfection of the animal husbandry site, measures to be taken case stray dogs or cats cross the eastern border, the obligation to vaccinate hunting dogs and authorities' working dogs, and notification duties to health authorities.
