Abstract
The present Government Decree applies to risk assessment and risk management within the water production chain at facilities that supply at least 10 cubic meters of household water per day or for the needs of at least 50 people in a water distribution area. The Decree aims to establish a comprehensive framework for risk management and self-control in the drinking water production chain in Finland, ensuring the consistent delivery of safe, clean, and wholesome drinking water to consumers. It promotes a preventive approach to safeguard public health and protect the environment. Water suppliers must implement a systematic risk management approach to identify, assess, and control potential hazards and risks throughout the drinking water production chain, among other measures.
