Radiation Safety Act (No. 592 of 1991).

This Act seeks to prevent and limit damage to health and other adverse effects caused by radiation. The Act applies to the use of radiation and other features that lead or could lead to someone exposed to hazardous radiation. The Act sets out general principles for the use of radiation, provides rules relative to radiation and provides with respect to handling of nuclear waste and handling and transportations of radioactive substances. The Act sets out the operator's duty of care in respect of radioactive waste. The Act provides with respect to licensing and inspections and defines offences.
