Abstract
This Act shall apply only to vessels used for mercantile purposes and which are over 15 meters of length (sect. 1). Fishing vessels which are registered in the fishing vessels register shall however, pursuant to section 8 also be registered in the register established by this Act.
The 54 sections of this Act are divided into 8 Chapters: General provisions (1); Rules relating to the shipping register and the ship construction register (2); Continuous Synopsis Record (2a); Registration of vessels and vessels under construction and registration of property rights (3); Procedures of registration of vessels and vessels under construction and for registration of property rights (4); Cancellation of registrations (5); Modification of registration (6); Miscellaneous provisions (7); Entry into force and transitional provisions (8).
