Veterinary Care Act (No. 285 of 2023).

The purpose of this Act is to promote and maintain animal health and welfare as well as public health, particularly by ensuring the quality of veterinary services and by securing equal and functioning public veterinary services at a reasonable price throughout the country. The Act contains provisions on the organization and governance of veterinary services as well as on the supervision of these services. It also includes provisions on the supervision of food safety, animal health, and animal welfare exercised in municipalities, as well as the work carried out in municipalities to combat animal diseases. The Finnish Food Safety Authority governs and oversees, as the central administrative authority, the enforcement and compliance with this Act and the provisions issued under it.

Organization of supervision tasks; 5. Private veterinary care; 6. Supervision of veterinary services; 7. Special provisions.
