Abstract
The objective of the present Act is to ensure the availability and quality of veterinary services arranged by the municipalities, as well as the supervision of other veterinary services. The Act also aims to ensure the supervision of food safety and the health and wellbeing of animals. It applies to veterinary services, to the supervision of hygiene in the primary production of food of animal origin, other supervision of food safety and supervision of hygiene in animal husbandry, to the control and prevention of animal diseases and to animal welfare. The Act contains 38 sections divided into the following chapters: 1. General provisions; 2. Competent authorities; 3. Planning of veterinary care; 4. Municipal veterinary care; 5. Fees and compensation; 6. Supervision of private veterinary care; 7. Special provisions.
