Drainage (Amendment) Act 2023 (Act No. 22 of 2023).

This Act amends the Drainage Act 1961 to insert new sections on drainage areas and the drainage funds. Drainage areas may be declared by the Minister respecting the procedure set out by this Act. After an area has been declared as a drainage area in accordance with this section, the Minister must assign that drainage area to a Board, which may be appointed by the Minister. Functions existing under the principal Act, first assigned to the Permanent Secretary or ministry are now assigned to a Board. There must be a drainage fund for each Board established under this Act. consequential amendments are made.
