Abstract
The purpose of these Regulations is to give legal effect to the Fiji Maritime Code to have the force of law in Fiji. The Code is set out in the Schedule, and details the standards and requirements relating to commercial ships of more than 15 meters in registered length, such as standards and requirements in respect of the construction, survey and safe operation of ships. These Regulations apply to all ships more than 15 meters in registered length as registered in the Fiji Register of Ships; and SOLAS ships. Regulation 7 requires ships under the scope of these Regulations and the Maritime Code to undergo the surveys and inspections prescribed in paragraph 14 of the Schedule.
