Abstract
This Decree established the Maritime Safety Authority as a commercial statutory authority. The Authority is the successor of the Fiji Islands Maritime Safety Administration. It shall, among other things, provide services in administering and enforcing the laws specified in the Marine Act and any other law relating to the regulation, registration of ships and safety of shipping. The Authority may delegate its powers in accordance with this Decree and may, with the approval of the relevant Minister, make regulations for the better carrying out of the provisions of this Decree.
