Abstract
These Regulations, which extend to Scotland only, revoke and remake, with modifications, the Eggs and Chicks (Scotland) Regulations 2008 as a consequence of a rearrangement in Community legislation regarding the production and marketing of eggs. The Regulations, among other things: provide for the registration of pedigree breeding establishments, other breeding establishments and hatcheries; make provision with respect to authorization of packing centres to grade eggs; vary the minimum requirements for the marketing of eggs as free-range eggs by authorizing livestock grazing on open-air runs for hens producing such eggs; and prescribe offences.
