Abstract
These Regulations implement Community legislation relative to the assessment and management of environmental noise.

The Regulations also require the Department of the Environment and airport operators to draw up action plans and require public authorities to treat action plans as policy insofar as the action plan identifies them as being responsible for a particular action. The Regulations require competent authorities in Northern Ireland to cooperate with their counterparts in England, Scotland and Wales when necessary to do so in order to meet obligations under these Regulations or Directive 2002/49/EC.
