Food (Pistachios from Iran)(Emergency Control) Order 1997 (S.I. No. 2238 of 1997).

This Order is made by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in consequence of the fact that in the opinion of the Minister the importation of pistachios originating from Iran may involve imminent risk of injury to health. The Order is made pursuant to section 13 of the Food Safety Act 1990 and implements also Commission Decision 97/613/EC. The Order prohibits the importation of pistachios originating in or consigned from Iran and specifies enforcement authorities. Section 4 provides for the applicability of specified provisions of the Act in relation with this Order. (4 sections)
