Type of law
Regulation
Abstract
These Regulations, which extend to Scotland only, revoke the Plastic Materials and Articles in Contact with Food (Scotland) Regulations 2008 and re-enact those Regulations with changes. The main changes implement further amendments made to Commission Directive 2002/72/EC by Commission Directive 2008/39/EC. These Regulations implement in Scotland Community legislation restrictions relating to plastic materials and articles and substances used in the manufacture of plastic materials and articles in contact with food. They, among other things: (a) prohibit specified activities in relation to any defined sub-standard plastic material or article; (b) prohibit the use of monomers and additives in the manufacture of plastic materials and articles other than in accordance with specified conditions; (c) specify the required standards for the composition of products and relating to overall migration limits from plastic materials or articles to food; and (d) provide with respect to sampling and analysis of products, enforcement and offences.
