Abstract
These Regulations amend seed Regulations to implement, in Scotland, Commission Directive 2008/62/EC providing for certain derogations for acceptance of agricultural landraces and varieties which are naturally adapted to the local and regional conditions and threatened by genetic erosion and for marketing of seed and seed potatoes of those landraces and varieties, in so far as it relates to seed production and marketing.
Seed of a Conservation Variety may only be marketed where the conditions specified by these Regulations are complied with.
These Regulations insert a new Schedule 4A in the principal Regulations. This Schedule lays down the requirements particular to Conservation Varieties in respect of official certificates; conditions relating to crops from which seed is obtained; conditions relating to seed of a Conservation Variety and examinations.
