Abstract
This Order, made under the Animal Health Act 1981, concerns the control of tuberculosis in deer. It provides for, among other things: (a) the compulsory notification of tuberculosis in deer and in carcases of deer; (b) the investigation by a veterinary inspector; (c) the imposition of certain requirements in respect of deer, including the isolation of affected deer from all other deer and from cattle; (d) the testing of deer; (e) the prohibition of the vaccination and treatment of deer for tuberculosis; the isolation of deer and the cleansing and disinfection of premises; (g) the marking and identification of deer; (h) the prohibition of the exposure for sale in a market of a deer by its owner unless properly marked; and (i) offences.
