Non-Biodegradable Waste Control (Expanded Polystyrene) Order (SRO. No. 18 of 2018).

For the purposes of the Non-Biodegradable Waste Control Act, No. 9 of 2018, this Order does not include expanded polystyrene food container to non-biodegradable products. It defines expanded polystyrene food container as any product made of expanded polystyrene and used for selling or providing food for consumption and includes food containers, plates, hot beverage cup, cold beverage cups, egg cartons, but excludes meat trays and vegetable trays. Section 4 (1) of the Act shall apply with respect to expanded polystyrene food containers from the 1 September 2018. Section 5 (1) of the Act shall apply with respect to expanded polystyrene food containers from the 1 March 2019. Section 6 (1) of the Act shall apply with respect to expanded polystyrene food containers from the 1 April 2019.
