Government Resolution No. 447 validating "Technical Regulation - on food intended for weight loss in diets of limited energy value".

Food intended for weight loss in diets of limited energy value, which is placed on the market before the entry into force of this Resolution and does not comply with the requirements defined by the technical regulations approved by the same Resolution, may be placed on the market before the expiry of the "minimum shelf life" or "before use" or "storage period". Food intended for weight loss in diets of limited energy value is food with a special composition, which, when used/consumed in accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer and business operator, shall fully or partially replace the daily food ration. Such food is divided into two categories: (a) food, which is presented as a substitute for a complete daily ration of foodstuffs; and (b) food, which is presented as one or more food substitutes of the daily food ration. In order to protect the interests of consumers, the legal entity of public law - the National Food Agency during the state control determines the conformity of the information defined by the Georgian legislation and declared by the business operator related to the food specified by this technical regulation. The aforesaid food shall be placed on the market only if it meets the requirements established by this Technical Regulation. The food label must contain the following information: (a) a) food consumption provides all necessary nutrients meeting the daily requirement of the substance; and (b) one should not consume food without consulting a doctor for a period exceeding three weeks.
