Order No. 178 of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources on Approval of the Typical Charter of the Territorial Unit of the State Sub Agency – Forestry Department of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia.

The Minister orders the establishment of regional forestry bureaus as the territorial unit of the authorized state forest institution. Within its competence and scope of defined territory, the tasks of [each] bureau shall include: (a) recording the state forestry fund and protecting it from illegal timber extraction; (b) developing proposals on the restoration and protection of the state forestry fund and submitting them to the department; (c) developing proposals on the use of timber resources and submitting them to the department; and (d) supervising the performance of forest management measures and research activities.
