Abstract
The Resolution lays down rules for prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies in animals. It consists of five chapters: General provisions (I); Determining the status of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (II); Prevention of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) (III); Control and eradication of transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) (IV); and Animal nutrition (V). The Resolution also includes annexes providing more detailed protocols for taking samples for the control purposes. It applies to living animals, production of products of animal origin, their placement on market, and, in certain cases, their import and export.

The Resolution for most part enters into force from 1 January 2020, and the remaining clauses enter into force from 1 January 2027.
