Abstract
This Act establishes the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission as a body corporate. The Commission shall, among other things: to monitor standards of performance for provision of services; approve rates chargeable for provision of utility services; promote fair competition among public utilities; maintain a register of public utilities; and handle complaints made under this Act. The Act also provides rules for the provision of public utility services by a public utility licensed or authorized under any law or an entity that has made an agreement with a public utility to provide services. The Commission shall monitor standards of performance established by licensing authorities. This Act shall not apply to supply of water provided in a community, where the supply of the water is operated and managed by the community concerned.
