Law No. 855 ratifying the Convention on the protection of the Mediterranean sea against pollution and the related Protocols for “the prevention of pollution of the Mediterranean sea by dumping from ships and aircrafts “ and “on cooperation in combating pollution of the Mediterranean sea by oil and other harmful substances in cases of emergency” and arranging other matters related thereto.

The law ratifies the Convention on the protection of the Mediterranean sea against pollution and the related Protocols for “the prevention of pollution of the Mediterranean sea by dumping from ships and aircrafts” and “on cooperation in combating pollution of the Mediterranean sea by oil and other harmful substances in cases of emergency”. It adopts all their provisions and the Annexes related thereto. The law, consisting of 9 articles, is composed as follows: ratification (art. 1); permission for dumping at sea (art. 2); competent authorities (art. 3); fulfilment of requirements (art. 4); sanctions (art. 5); procedures for the establishment of liability and imposition of fines (art. 6); permit fees for dumping at sea (art. 7); delegations (art. 8); entry into force (art.9).
