Law No. 1147 ratifying the international Convention on the dumping of wastes and other matter, signed on 1972 and arranging other matters related thereto.

The law ratifies the Convention and all its provisions and Annexes related to deliberate disposal of wastes at sea. The law, consisting of 10 articles, is composed as follows: ratification (art. 1); permission for dumping at sea (art. 2); competent authorities (art. 3); fulfilment of requirements (art. 4); sanctions (art. 5); procedures for the establishment of liability and imposition of fines (art. 6); permit fees for dumping at sea (art. 7); delegations (art. 8); amendment of provisions (art. 9); entry into force (art. 10). Regarding the amendments of other provisions, article 6 of Law No. 743/1977 related to oil transfers is being replaced by the provisions of article 9 to this law. Also, the provisions of articles 4, 5 and 6 of Law No. 885/1978 are being replaced respectively with the provisions of articles 4, 5, and 6 of the present law.
