Ministerial Decision 1499/224272/2024. Bluetongue virus infection surveillance programme (serotypes 1-24), measures on suspicion and confirmation of the disease, movements of animals of susceptible species.

This Ministerial Decision, implementing provisions of the Law no. 4235 of 2014, and in compliance with European Legislation, provides for establishing epidemiological surveillance programme for bluetongue fever and for specifying its objectives, including: systematic research and differential diagnosis in cattle, sheep, goats, through passive and active surveillance; immediate conduct of further research in case of seroconversion and detection of virus in control animals; investigation of the species, through entomological surveillance. Matters covered by this Decision include: appointment of competent authorities; monitoring and implementation activity; surveillance methods; movement of animals and species susceptible to the virus; provision of vaccines against bluetongue virus; offences.
