Abstract
This Decree, in order to comply with the relative European legislation, provides for the establishment of a system for the identification and registration of bovine meat and of products deriving from it. The Decree sets forth the rules to be applied for compulsory labelling of bovine meat and minced beef proceeded in GrECe as well as in third countries (non-EC countries). The competent authority, in compliance with article 20 of EC Regulation No. 1760, for the implementation of these Regulations shall be the General Directorate of Animal Production (GDZP). The label shall indicate the reference number of the animal, the number of the slaughterhouse, the number of the laboratory where the animal was sliced. Along with the compulsory labelling, in article 8 of the present Decree are described the rules to be followed in case of voluntary labelling. In this case and according to article 16 of EC Regulation No. 1760, the Organization for Certification and Surveillance of Agricultural Products (AGROCERT) shall be the competent authority for supervision and control.
