Abstract
This Decree introduces basic regulations on recreational, sport and artisanal fishing. Amateurish and sport fishing shall be practised generally, in compliance with regulations ruling professional fishing. It is prohibited to fish with any source of light. Exemption to this is fishing with fish-spear. Fishing with vessels within lakes, brackish waters or fishery reserves is also prohibited. Vending of fish is illegal as well. The Decree regulates in particular marine artisanal fishing, underwater amateurish fishing, fishing within the internal waters, sport fishing and licences.

Article 4 of Royal Order No. 142/1971 (FEK No. 47, part I, 12 March 1971) and article 6 of Royal Order No. 435/1970 (FEK No. 142, part I, 26 June 1970) are abrogated. The full text of the Decree attached herewith contains two handwritten annotations referring to the amendments of this text brought forth by Presidential Order No. 86/1998 and the provisions of EU Regulation No. 1967/2006.
