Abstract
The Decree prescribes the terms and conditions of conformity to the requirements of Annex I, international Convention MARPOL 73/1978, regarding oil pollution prevention for ships which are not regulated by the provisions of the Convention. It establishes surveys, inspections, equipment systems and certificates regarding the damping at sea of oil mixtures by certain types of ships. For the implementation of the provisions of the present Decree the definitions provided for in article 2 and Regulation 1 of Annex I to Law No. 1269/1982, shall apply. The provisions of the Decree shall apply to all ships of 400 tons gross tonnage and above and to oil-tankers of 150 tons gross tonnage and above which sail international navigation routes and to all ships of 100 tons but less than 400 tons gross tonnage. The Decree shall apply also to oil-tankers of 150 tons gross tonnage and above, regardless the type of navigation route (national or international) they sail.
