Presidential Order No. 32 laying down measures for the control of foot and mouth disease, in compliance with Council Directive 2003/85/EC of 29 September 2003.

Abstract
This Order, in reference with Council Directive 2003/85/EC sets out the minimum control measures to be applied in the event of an outbreak of foot and mouth disease of whatever type of virus. Such measures shall apply to any domestic or wild animal. It also sets forth certain preventative measures aimed at increasing awareness and preparedness of the competent authorities and the farming community for this disease. Measures in relation to all animal products (milk, fresh meat, skins, etc) produced in the affected zone as well as measures in relation to feed, forage, hay and straw produced in the affected zone are prescribed. Furthermore, the Minister of Rural Development and Food has the power to issue Decisions with additional measures, provided that more stringent action has to be taken in the field covered by this Order.

Entry into force notes
This Order enters into force on 1st July 2004, except the provisions of articles 3, 79 and 80 which shall enter into force as from the date of publication in the Official Gazette (article 82).
