Abstract
This Decree-Law regulates the General Fishing Act. It specifies the requirements to be satisfied by national or foreign vessels in order to obtain an artisanal, semi-industrial or industrial fishing licence. It consists of 28 articles and 5 Annexes specifying fishing gear to be used (minimum fishnet mesh), fishing vessel requirements (vessel and gear marking, etc.), authorized marine species to be caught, fishing licence requirements (issuing, fees and duration), fish landing operation, fishing vessel registration, etc. This Decree-Law also provides for the inspections to be carried out on board and penalties to be paid by offenders. Annexes concern model forms for requesting different fishing licences and list of protected marine species.
