Abstract
This Decree, consisting of 8 Chapters, approves the Regulation on Artisanal Fisheries to be performed in the water under the jurisdiction of Guinea Bissau. This Decree aims at regulating the General Legislation on Artisanal Fisheries to be performed within the inland waters and territorial sea. In particular, it specifies fishing vessels' requirements, fishing zones, as well as fishing licensing, fishing gear and methods, according to the sustainable exploitation of aquatic biological resources of Guinea Bissau. It also prescribes inspections, controls and fines to be paid for illegal artisanal fishing activities. It is divided as follows: Preliminary provisions (Chap. I); Consulting Councils for Artisanal Fisheries (Chap. II); Requirements to perform artisanal fishing (Chap. III); Artisanal fishing management (Chap. IV); Resources conservation measures (Chap. V); Artisanal fishing licensing (Chap. VI); Inspections and controls on artisanal fishing (Chap. VII); Final provisions (Chap. VIII).
