Abstract
This Decree-Law, consisting of 8 Chapters, approves the Basic Fishing Legislation. It establishes the requirements to be met in order to perform any activity related to aquatic biological resources exploitation within waters under the jurisdiction of Guinea-Bissau. It regulates and manages halieutic resources, as well as fishing licence requirements, mariculture infrastructures and fish product proceeding and treatment. It also applies for hygienic-sanitary quality control of fish products and inspections to be carried out for fishing activities, establishing fines to be paid for illegal fishing activity. The Decree-Law is divided as follows: General provisions (Chap. I); Management of halieutic resources (Chap. II); Fishing licensing (Chap. III); Fishing activities (Chap. IV); Mariculture and fish products processing (Chap. V); Hygienic-sanitary inspection on quality control over fish products (Chap. VI); Inspection and controls over fishing activities (Chap. VII); Final provisions (Chap. VIII).

This Decree-Law repeals Decree-Law No. 4/94 (on General Fisheries) and Decree-Law No. 2/86 (General Fisheries Act).
